One of my bird feeders on an upstairs deck has become buffet central for a horde of squirrels. After filling it this morning I watched a parade of seed snatchers negotiate their way up the post to the deck and perform the gymnastics needed to attach themselves to the swinging feeder hanging from a soffit. Here, one of the little rodent Wallendas seems surprised by my presence at the top of the post. After an awkward moment of introspection, the furry marauder apparently decided he wasn't so hungry after all and retreated to advise his friend, who was waiting below, of his reasons for his change of plans.
They'll be back.

This old, grumpy looking guy could be the Wilford Brimley of Squirrel World.

She's finally removed the snare that was around her upper jaw. Hanging out and contemplating where her new nest for the 2nd litter of the year will be.

This guy was actually hanging upside down by his back legs from my bird feeder while enjoying his lunch. I rotated the shot in post, bringing him in from the side so I didn't have to go through neck gymnastics or lay on the floor to view it. I almost flipped it from right to left too but the purist in me wouldn't allow it.
